comPrimary Objective: Senior Software QA Engineer will be responsible for testing optimizer related projects.

The individual will determine the test approaches for testing new and changed features.

Responsible for assisting efforts to develop QA performance tests measuring the optimizer related metrics.

Accountability/Scope: This Engineer reports to a QA Manager or Director.

This Engineer is held accountable in understanding the life cycle and product deliverables of the area in which they work.

This Engineer must be self-motivated, proactive, self-directed, and take a positive approach to working in a team.

Ability to prioritize and manage own workload.

Develops test plans and schedules.

Does not supervise other employees, but will be the technical leader of projects.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities· Determines and documents test approaches in optimizer related areas.

· Works individually and/or leads teams to review new features, develop and maintain test code.

· Runs tests and assists other in understanding and interpreting the results.

Provides assistance to the sustaining, customer support, and system engineering organization.

· Responsible for test tool maintence and bug regression testing for optimizer related projects.

· Serves on engineering teams, participating in SDLC stages of the product development· Participates in QA team process improvements· Keeps abreast of industry activities.

Skills Required: Excellent algorithmic and problem solving skillsExperience in performance-related analysis and tuning of database systemStrong SQL Able to read and review C/C++ codeUNIX experience (Linux preferred).

Shell scripting.

Perl and/or Python is a plus.

SDLC understandingPrior experience with Postgres is a plus.

Knowledge or experience with optimization techniques involving indices, referential integrity, and views is a plus.

Familiar with optimizer is a plus.
