The MRE reports to the plant's Maintenance & Reliability Manager and works collaboratively with Maintenance, Production, and other plant resources to continuously improve equipment & system operations.
The expectation of the MRE is to assist in improving product quality, compliance, safety, and equipment reliability and reduce maintenance and unit costs.
This is an "in the trenches – hands on" practical role for someone who strives for excellence and the opportunity to make a strong impact on both short and long-term business goals (world class performance).
Responsibilities include the following.
Optimize equipment uptime, equipment reliability, and equipment efficiency by analyzing equipment performance data and maintenance practices and recommending improved and/or more appropriate programs, procedures and systems along with recommending enhancements and /or new approaches.
Manage, implement, and monitor programs intended to increase the uptime of assets.
Such programs include but are not limited to: Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Condition-Based Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, and FMEA programs.
Conduct analysis and investigations and provide leadership to others in Failure Mode Analysis & Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures that significantly affect product quality, equipment uptime and plant capacity.
Report conclusions to plant management and make recommendations for improved programs and practices intended to prevent similar failures.
Develop project alternatives, scopes of work and financial justification for all small projects.
Analyze maintenance data to identify trends in equipment and organizational performance that adversely affect efficiency, cost, quality, plant capacity, and production throughput.
Make recommendations on actions that can be taken to reverse adverse trends.
Participate in the creation and review of Maintenance procedures and policies.
Analyze department programs, policies and practices.
Recommend enhancements designed to increase efficiency, effectiveness and quality while reducing costs.
Collaborate with counterparts at other Armstrong World Industries, Inc. sites to promote on-going communication concerning Maintenance issues and programs, to take advantage Best Demonstrated Practices.
Assist in identifying and providing training to maintenance and production related to improving asset care.
Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs and evaluating equipment.
Monitor the effectiveness of the corrective actions on a monthly basis.
The Maintenance-Reliability Engineer will supervise all aspects of the Maintenance Support Group, this group includes Planning/Scheduling, Storeroom, and Utilities Personnel (5 persons total).
Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
Three to five years experience in engineering support of manufacturing systems, directly involved with maintenance activities and engineering improvement projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team through a root cause analysis/problem-solving process.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and execute design packages that will improve safety, operability and reliability of the plant equipment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience using vibration analysis, thermograph, oil analyses, etc. Self motivated individual with good organizational and communication skills and a proven ability to facilitate meetings and provide leadership when necessary.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and ever-changing priorities and meet established deadlines.
Demonstrated track record in driving continuous improvement.
Experience as a participant or facilitator in RCM, FMEA, TPM and other maintenance programs and methodologies.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, latex/rubber/leather gloves, and safety shoes) as needed.
Desired Qualifications and Skills (these skills are a benefit, not required) Experience with management and implementation of capital projects.
Master's degree.
Lean certification.
