Duties and Tasks: Works as individual technical contributor, or as leader of a small design or test team.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Performs detailed design and test of software, electrical or mechanical subsystemsResearches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Begins to identify domain of expertise.

Engineer will be expected to support various projects such as TDRS-K, ETGT, SNE-East and SGSS in the capacity of Systems Engineer in designing, documenting, and implementing different subsystems for the NASA Space Network Ground System.
In particular, engineer will be supporting System Engineering activities as described in NASA NPR 7123-1ANASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements.
Successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the System Design, Technical Management, and Product Realization processes described in NASA NPR 7123-1A.
Emphasis on System Design (Stakeholder/Requirements/Decomposition/Design Solution) and Product Realization (Implementation/Integration/Verification/Validation/Transition).
Tasks may include preparing and delivering customer presentations and some travel.
Education and Experience: BS Degree in a technical field related to systems engineering +5 years of demonstrated results, or equivalent experienceSecret level US DoD security clearance is required.
