Become a Math Teacher in Rhode Island. No education coursework required. Job in Boston, Massachusetts US

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Rhode Island Teaching Fellows (RITF) is a highly-selective alternate route to teaching certification, specifically designed for outstanding individuals who do not have a background in education but want to become teachers in Rhode Island public schools.

We are currently recruiting outstanding and diverse candidates who will have at least a Bachelors degree in math, science, English, or a closely related field by June 15, 2010.

Teaching Fellows must have a relentless drive to make a difference, a dedication to setting only the highest expectations for themselves and their students, and an ability to thrive on overcoming challenges.

Rhode Island has an urgent need for secondary math teachers, especially in our urban schools.

In 2009, Rhode Islands African-American and Hispanic 8th graders scored, on average, a staggering 30 points below their white peers on the math National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)[1] exam.

We need outstanding individuals with strong math skills who are interested in joining a network of educators who are committed to raising student achievement in Rhode Islands high-need classrooms.

After intensive preparation over the summer, Fellows will begin teaching full-time in the fall of 2010 while pursuing their teacher certification through our Practitioner Teacher Program.

We have a commitment to diversity and encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

We are accepting applications immediately on a rolling basis.

For more information and to apply now, please visit: www.RhodeIslandTeachingFellows.org Shape the wave of the future.
