Essential Functions
1. Collect data, maintain records document training, and manage filing systems for Environmental Health and Safety2 Generate and review daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety and environmental reports, as necessary3 Ensure written programs are reviewed as required and are kept current4 Develop, facilitate, schedule and coordinate safety training sessions5 Attend and report at monthly plant management meetings6 Lead internal plants safety committee and drive initiatives/programs developed as action items7 Lead and/or participate in team established to indentify root cause analysis of environmental and health and safety concerns at the plant8 Ensure corrective actions are communicated to team members and incorporated into training and written programs9 If necessary, assist with Workers Compensation.10. Develop and facilitate safety training and safety programs.
Assist with company-wide training as needed.11. Must maintain annual certification requirements.12. Actively involved in cross-functional team of EH&S Specialist for POET.13. Become trained in safety issues to complement plant programs.14. Lead and direct safety audits, plant inspections, environmental reviews, and other activities as needed throughout the facility.15. Organize and maintain documentation, filing and verification system for all Environmental Health and Safety Programs.16. Work in an honest and ethical manner, maintaining confidentiality on all business related matters.17. Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Technical Manager/Plant Engineer.18. Regular attendance.19. Maintain a team environment with other plant departments.20. Champion POET BiorefiningCloverdale in the community.21. Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.22. Others duties as assigned.
Education: 2-4 year degree in related field or equivalent experience, five (5) or more years of environmental, safety, and/or health experience.
Experience: Presentation/facilitation experience and skills required.
Workers Compensation administration beneficial.
Required Certifications include: OSHA (30 hour); DOT Hazmat.
Beneficial Certifications include: HAZWOPER; CPR, ASSE, Smoke School Completion, National Safety Council Workplace Certification.
Team Member must be experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Must also have basic knowledge of business machines.
