Description: SUMMARY: Responsible for the strategic direction of programming.
Propose and develop new programming concepts and improve existing programming.
Responsible for the overall on-air aspects of the station by utilizing all contacts to further the development of the programming department, manage and lead the department, and create new, fun, and profitable events on-air resulting in increased ratings.
To protect the stations broadcast license by ensuring stations programming meets and exceeds FCC standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Responsible for strategic direction of programming Work with Market Manager to develop strategies to build ratings in target demo and build revenue opportunities Plan research projects which focus on programming, audience and market Manage station imaging.
Responsible for all on-air programming promos, strategic & image promos.
Write promo copy; produce/assist in the production of promos, manage rotations of programming promotional copy.
Work directly with Promotions, Sales and other departments as required.
Create and implement marketing plans such as direct marketing, billboards, and station events.
Liaison between the station and other members of the media.
Create promotional proposals for clients.
Network with other marketing professionals to form partnerships.
Recruiting, hiring and evaluation of programming staff.
Responsible for community relations, writing public service announcements and sponsorships of community/charitable events.
Develop promotions that generate revenue for the Sales department and ratings for the programming department.
Responsible for maintaining costs within department budget.
Manage time sheets, and hours of full-time and part-time staff to fit within budget.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Follow CBS Radio and FCC guidelines and regulations concerning programming.
Propose and develop new revenue generating programming concepts and improve existing programming.
Maintain an awareness of competitive nature of marketplace.
Frequently working weekends and evening hours.
Must be highly motivated, organized and a team player.
Ability to multi-task and attention-to-detail.
Participate at station promotional events as necessary.
Perform all other tasks perceived, assigned, and/or required that contribute to the smooth running of the department and to the achievement of departmental and station goals.

Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Five years radio/programming management experience required, preferably in a large Market.
College degree preferred.
A proven track-record in programming.
Multiple format experience is preferred, previous production/marketing experience is helpful.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of CBS Radio and FCC policies.
Knowledge of Arbitron and PPM methodology and analysis.
Ability to work with diverse team of professionals.
Good programming judgment.
Background in radio ratings and research desirable.
Ability to lead a creative, mature group of professional broadcasters.
