DHART Communications Specialist (EMT) Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center At the direction of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) Program Director and DHART Communications Supervisor, the Specialist will perform emergency and general communication procedures and safety and patient acceptance functions to activate and coordinate the patient transport accomplished by DHART critical care ground and air teams throughout the region.
This position will also act as a resource for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the region in addition to coordinating mutual aid air and ground resources as needed.
Schedule flexibility to include weekends, holidays and nights required.
The Communications Specialist must be a High School graduate with a minimum of 2 years of combined EMT and/or dispatching/emergency medical services experience, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
EMT Certification is required as is knowledge of medical terminology and an EMS background.
Previous aviation communication skills and hospital experience preferred.
PC experience and skills are essential.
Must be a team player and have the ability to remain calm under pressure, perform duties without supervision and think multidirectional using available resources.
Satisfactory completion of the DHART communications training program is required.
Must have the ability to pay diligent attention to detail, provide precise documentation and the ability to multi-task and rapidly trouble-shoot in demanding situations.
The ability to remain physically inactive for extended periods of time, lift over 35 lbs. and have the visual ability to chart air activities a must.
